The Alan Mudge Memorial Fund was established by family and community in 1990 in the wake of Alan’s death, weeks after his graduation from the Dover Sherborn High School in Massachusetts, USA. The original purpose of the fund was to support the Dover Sherborn Education Foundation, a parent-initiated effort to enhance the quality of educational curricula, programs and activities in the local school system. Over the years, the fund assisted with many projects that impacted on the Dover Sherborn educational experience.
With the termination of the Dover Sherborn Education Foundation in 2023, the Alan Mudge Memorial Fund transitioned to a private foundation which enabled it to realign its purpose. It continues to support educational needs but can now focus on domestic and international projects in underserved areas. This focus is in keeping with Alan’s legacy who died as he was beginning to explore the world.
